While procrastinating on Instagram one day, I came across a cute little account called 80smade90skidz and I fell in love! Everyone who knows me knows that I am a sucker for anything retro from the 1980’s and 1990’s! So, while scrolling down memory lane on their Instagram feed, I came across a shout out for a company that sells retro scratch and sniff stickers. Can you say love at first sight?
One thing you might not know about me is that I am a hoarder when it comes to smelly stickers. I remember receiving my very first smelly sticker when I was in Grade 2 and I have been hooked ever since. When I was in Grade 3, my teacher had a box FULL of smelly stickers – ranging in scents from green grass to my personal favourite, dill pickle. I vowed from that day on that when I became a teacher, I would have my own stash of smelly stickers that I could give out to my students.
I have been purchasing smelly stickers even before I began my teaching career in 1998. They are a staple in my classroom. I give them away for good behaviour, excellent progress, and I put them on certificates and evaluations. I get all the thrills when I see a student scratch the sticker and then let out a “Aaaaaaaawwww! It smells so good!” once they have sniffed it! I know I am weird! I even get a thrill when I see students trying to see if they get the same one as one of their classmates – because I do tend to mix them up a bit! But as much as I love my smelly stickers, I was becoming bored with purchasing the same sets all the time that are available in teacher supply catalogues. I wanted to find smelly stickers with scents from my childhood and I feared that they no longer existed. That fear changed to exuberance when I discovered, thanks to 80smade90skidz, the AMAZING store called Everything Smells.
Everything Smells is an 80’s-90’s kid’s dream – and the best part about it is that they offer a Scratch and Sniff Sticker Club which I am proud to say that I am a member of! I just received my first pack of stickers in the mail and I was so happy to find some of my childhood favourites like Cola and Fresh Grass scent! The Watermelon stickers are amazing, too! I can’t wait to start handing these out to my students. Who knows?!? Maybe their parents will feel a little nostalgic when these stickers make their way into their homes this coming school year!
My children and I are already looking forward to next months shipment! I wonder what they have in store for my nose – and if someone from the company is reading this, pretty please send me a sheet of dill pickle in my next pack! I will be forever greatful! So do yourself a favour and check out both 80smade90skids on Instagram and Everything Smells on the internet. You can thank me later!
Have a great day!
p.s. I am not affiliated in any way with 80’smade90’skidz or Everything Smells. They are just two pages that I enjoy following and buying from! I am not receiving any compensation for what I have posted here. Thanks!
