This year, my class had the wonderful opportunity to meet and learn from an amazing person named Miss Sharon. Miss Sharon came to us from the West Island of Montreal to work on organizing our learning spaces as well as helping us with our listening skills and studying techniques.
Miss Sharon works for a company named Bartemaeus located in Kirkland, Quebec. Her company offers support services to different public service organizations such as hospitals, youth justice institutions, and of course, schools. She came to our school two times a week for four weeks and to make a long story short – both myself and my students fell in love with her!
Miss Sharon came into my class like a breathe of fresh air – full of wonderful tips and techniques for the students AND for myself! I learned just as much as the children did… and then some! Watching Miss Sharon in action was like watching a magician pull rabbits out of a hat! Her techniques had the children engaged at all times and they were learning not only skills that will help them inside the classroom but in other aspects of their lives for years to come.
The first order of business for Miss Sharon was getting my students’ desks organized.
After breaking down the word, Miss Sharon introduced us to arranging all our pencils, pencil crayons, and markers. By using a very simple technique, the children and myself were shown how to quickly and efficiently find what they are looking for as well as keeping their materials neat, tidy, and most importantly, ORGANIZED!
Like any great teacher, Miss Sharon adapted her workshops to suit the needs of my class. When I asked her for help with getting my students to keep their coat and boot area neat and tidy, Miss Sharon came in, took over, and worked with the children to show them how they are capable of keeping their hallway organized. Mr. Tremblay was super impressed with the improvement in the hallway and I can happily report that, to this day, the hallway is still in super shape!
The rest of our time with Miss Sharon was spent on listening, reading, and focusing skills. I was so impressed with Miss Sharon’s techniques and insights that I considered myself a student while she was in my class. I can’t wait to continue emphasizing her techniques with my 3’s and I look forward to implementing them next year with my new group of students. I really appreciated her advice and the unique perspective she had about my students. I miss our little pedagogical chats after her mini workshops with my class – and enlightening talks during lunch in the staff room. By the end of her time with us at JES, Miss Sharon was an honorary member of our staff!
As for the children, they were very disappointed when our time with Miss Sharon was finished. Her firm but loving approach was admired by the students. To show her their appreciation, the children decided to surprise her with a white board full of love and tons of cards for her to take back home with her.

Miss Sharon, it was an incredible pleasure to have you in our classroom. I learned so much from you and the children did, too! We can’t thank you enough for everything you have done for us. You will always be welcome at JES!
Have a great day!
