Welcome to my very first experience as a Linky Party host! I am super excited to be able to collaborate with other teachers, bloggers, and homeschoolers out there! I can’t wait to read all about you and your experiences.
So…. the topic for the week is “My Goals for the Summer” and like every other mother/teacher/blogger, I am already in planning mode for my summer vacation (and it is only May!!!).
So, in no specific order…. here are Miss Monica’s Goals for the Summer!
1. Get Ready for the TpT Conference in Las Vegas
Yep! I’m heading to the conference once again this year and I can’t wait! I learned so much about how to grow my little online business, I met a ton of fabulous and creative teachers last summer and I can’t wait to see what this year’s conference has in store!! My new set of business cards are ordered and ready to hand out, my spot at the conference is confirmed, my plane ticket is booked, and I am networking with lots of people from across Canada and around the world who I can’t wait to meet in person! Blogger meet ups are scheduled and if I am really lucky, I might be able to catch Britney Spears or Mariah Carey while I’m there! I will be celebrating my birthday during the conference so a good show is (obviously) in order!
Are you planning on being at the conference? Leave me a message below and introduce yourself! I would love to meet up with you!
2. Celebrate Birthdays in Style!
For my family, summer means birthdays! All 5 of us have birthdays in the summer months and they all start with me! Like I said up above, I will be in Las Vegas for my birthday schmoozing with awesome teachers! Once August roles around, my eldest, my youngest and my husband will be celebrating their birthdays within days of each other (6, 9, & 15th). This year is going to be extra special because my husband will be celebrating the big 4-0! A huge family party is in the works so please keep your fingers crossed for warm weather, lots of sun, and NO mosquitoes!
3. Preparing for the New School Year
Every teacher will tell you that he/ she spends the summer months preparing for his/ her new class. I am no exception to this rule. And like any great teacher, I also take the summer time to reflect upon how things went this year and how I can improve upon things for the future. Since I have been out of the classroom earlier than usual this year, the time at home has given me the opportunity to study guided reading techniques, learn about setting goals, developing benchmarks, and analyzing formative data. I am currently rethinking how I can re-arrange my Language Arts and Math periods to better teach and assess my students. With all the new knowledge that I have gained these past months, I will take the summer to come up with a plan to implement what I have learned and adapt it to the new group coming in.
I also have a ton of printing, colouring, laminating, and TpT’ing to do, too!
(But I consider that FUN STUFF!!)
Now it’s your turn to tell me what your goals are for the summer! Link up below! I can’t wait to hear from you! Add your link below, spread some blogging love, and ENJOY!

I am so super jealous that you might catch a show of Britney or Mariah… that would be totally awesome! And your family is like mine with birthdays. We have birthdays the 20th, 21st, and 22nd all in March. Crazy!

Hi Rebecca!
Thanks for stopping by! I’m keeping my fingers crossed for seeing one of those 2 divas… last year my hubby and I packed our 4 day mini-vacation full of shows and concerts but this year I am going alone and I have a ton of TpT networking to do!
And by the way, welcome to the birthday madness club! I didn’t mention in my post that my middle child has her birthday in September – and it usually falls during the first week of back-to-school! Yikes!
Thanks again for stopping by! Hope to hear from you again soon!

Thank you for inviting me to the link up! I hope to join up again! I won’t be making it to Vegas this year because I’m going to see my favorite, the Dave Matthews Band, in concert for the 20th time. It’s a summer tradition that I just can’t miss! I hope that you will have a wonderful birthday celebration!
I Heart Grade 3 says
Rachel!
I am going to see Dave Matthews, too! My eldest daughter and I are going for the first time. He is coming to Montreal at the end of July – that is how I am able to go to the convention and the concert. I can’t wait! When I heard that he was doing and acoustic set and a full band set I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the tickets! I am hoping that he will sing Say Goodbye and American Baby… fingers crossed!

I’ll cross my fingers for you! They’ve not been played on this tour yet, but odds are good that they will be played at some point this summer! My fingers are crossed for Cry Freedom and One Sweet World, and if I’m getting my dream set list, I’ll hear Nancies and Warehouse too! You’ll love the show. We saw him last year with the acoustic and full band set and were very impressed.

Hi! I just found your Weekly Summer Link Up on Facebook and think it is a fabulous idea! One of my summer goals is to blog more often and this link up will be the perfect motivator. I am hoping to get my first one done today or tomorrow. Thank you for hosting! I am going to Vegas for the first time. Excited but also a little bit nervous. Hope to meet up with you! Happy Memorial Day!

Hi Tina!
I am so happy to be of help! The link up will be open until Friday – so that gives you plenty of time if you get the inspiration to blog about your goals.
We’ll have to try and get introduced at the conference. I went last year and trust me, DO NOT BE NERVOUS! I went all by myself last year, asked to sit at a table for the opening session with people I didn’t know, and met fabulous people! Even during the info sessions, it was easy to talk to people sitting beside me. Everyone was open to networking, exchanging business cards, talking about their families, taking pictures – even the top sellers! It was an amazing experience! You are going to love it – and what is amazing is that all that networking and friendships continue through social media and blogging long after the conference is over!

Tina says
Oh thank you! That makes me feel so much better! I am not the most out-going person so it is nice to know that people are so friendly and inviting! I look forward to hopefully meeting up with you at some point! Thanks again for the blog link-up!

Tina,
You’ll do GREAT! There are a lot of us in the same boat. I am going alone again this year but I have my list of people (and their stores) so that I can easily put a face to the name tags!!!!
