A Random Act of Kindness I Have Given…
This story always puts a smile on my face. As those of you who follow my blog know, my daughter is an avid figure skater and takes her lessons before school three times a week. I am NOT an early bird by any means, so it is important for me to stop by my local Tim Hortons to get myself a small coffee with 2 cream on my way to the arena. If it is an especially cold winter morning, I ask for a medium. Anyways, it just so happened that one morning as I was ordering my coffee through the drive thru, I recognized the woman in the car behind me. It had been a while since I had seen her or talked to her so I tried to get her attention by waving into my rear view mirror. She didn’t wave back or respond, so I decided to get her attention another way.
When I rolled up to the drive thru window to get my morning coffee, I told the attendant that I would like to pay for the order of the lady behind me. The attendant looked at me like I was crazy when I asked her to tell the person behind me that the coffee was compliments of a friend who wanted her to have a great day, but she agreed to let me pay for the order and pass along my little message.
A few minutes later, while stopped at a traffic light, a car pulled up behind me and beeped. It was the person I had bought the coffee for, blowing me kisses from her driver’s seat! I gave her a thumbs up as the light turned green and we both went on our separate ways.
The wonderful thing about living in a relatively small town is that random acts of kindness normal pay themselves forwards. It just so happens that I have taught this woman’s children when they were younger and her nieces are currently attending the school I work at. One day, there was a knock on my classroom door. When I opened the door, one of her nieces was there with a card – an inside of that card was the nicest handwritten note and a gift card to Tim Hortons – compliments of the person who I had bought coffee for just a few weeks earlier.
In a way, my giving of a random act of kindness turned full circle and made me a recipient of one as well.
And those of you who know me, know that I love my Tim Hortons!

What a heart warming storing. It definitely put a smile on my face! I can only imagine the joy and appreciation that your ‘friend’ felt when she was given the message. It is amazing how something so small can brighten a person’s day – just knowing that someone else thought of you!
Now don’t spend too much during your second day of shopping 🙂
