Well guess what? She’s back!
I was one happy teacher on Tuesday when Miss Sharon popped up at my door again! If you are a follower of this blog, you will remember that Miss Sharon spent some time with my class last year and really helped us get organized both inside and outside of the classroom. If you happened to miss it, check it out here:
After my excitement calmed down a little bit, I let Miss Sharon take complete control of my class! She decided to start with the organization of the cubby area first. Now, I must say that she had a much easier time this year than last year because I had already implemented A LOT of her techniques for cubby management on the first day of school back in September. For example, I decided right from the get-go to separate the boys and girls in the cubby area. This has saved me a lot of headaches and management problems this year! I also had a system established for their baskets above their jackets and for the under bench area for boots/ shoes. But still, a pleasant reminder from Miss Sharon is always appreciated and my students did do an amazing QUICK job of tidying up their cubby areas!
The next job for my students was organizing their desks. OH BOY! Some of these desks needed a major make over! Miss Sharon showed the children how to break down the desk cleaning task to make it more manageable.
Step 1: Acknowledge that the desk needs to be organized!
Step 2: Place everything into category piles on the floor.
Step 3: Whatever is left needs a home. Decide if these go in binders or duo-tangs, in your school bag, in the recycling bin, or in the garbage.
Step Four: Arrange everything nice and neatly in your desk!
Step Five: Take pride in having a well organized desk!
So far so good – and it’s only Day 1 of Miss Sharon’s visits. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us with her other workshops! Hurry up Tuesday!!!
Have a great day!
