The end of another fabulous year has come and gone… and boy oh boy am I ever going to miss this class! These students, and those that aren’t included in this collage, were truly the best gifts I could have asked for!
This group of children made coming into work everyday a complete JOY and I wanted to give them gifts that reflected their true individuality. I also wanted to get my creative juices flowing!
Here’s what I gave my students as their gifts for the end of the year.
I always give my students a portrait of themselves at the beginning of the year (click HERE to see them) and I thought these would be the cutest way to wrap up our time together. I found the idea from Pinterest and I knew that this was the perfect class to do this for!
Here’s what you will need!
* cardstock (I chose cream coloured)
* Picture frames (I got mine at the Dollar Store)
* gift bags (I used brown craft bags from the Dollar Store)
* tissue paper to decorate the bags
* paper cutter
* pencil
In order to have access to the clipart, you must become a member of The Little Umbrella, an online printable store that is super adorable. I am not affiliated with the site but for the very reasonable price of $9.99 US, you have access to all the printables that are available on The Little Umbrella for 1 year. That means that you can easily make these exact same printables for 2 class years before having to renew your membership. There are fully customizable boy art and girl art – eye, skin, hair, and t-shirt colour can be customized as well as face shape,hairstyle, and font colour. You can even add your own special message at the bottom of the paper. Mine said, “It was a pleasure having you in my Grade 3 class!
Each of my gifts were printed on cream coloured cardstock that was 8.5 X 11 in dimension. I had bought smaller picture frames so I had to use the insert of the frames to mark off the size and be able to cut down the gifts to 4X6. My paper cutter was a lifesaver for this step! Once the pictures were cut out, I replaced them into the frames, wrapped them up in tissue paper, and packed them neatly into the gift bags.
My students and their parents loved the gifts and I was super happy to see their smiles when they opened them up! It was a wonderful way to end our incredible year together!
Do you have a blog post about gifts you have given your students? I would love for you to link up! You never know, you might just have an inspiring idea for another teacher!

Do the glasses show up at all even though they are skin tone?
I Heart Grade 3 says
I’m not so sure about that – although I know you can change the levels of the skin tone to make them lighter or darker. If you play around with the avatar configuration (which is easy, by the way), you should be able to make the classes show up.
