Hello once again! It is wonderful to be back in the classroom doing what I love to do – TEACH! One exciting part of going back to school is room prep! It is an exhausting task – but once finished, it is so motivating to start planning curriculum materials, evaluation procedures, daily routines, and all that other stuff that goes along with the job of being an educator.
Here is how my classroom looked when I walked in for the first official day of work…
To make my life a little easier, I begin prepping my classroom décor in June. In my school board, we have about a week of pedagogical days after the students have finished their year. I take a portion of this time to start decorating my room for the next school year. I like to keep the same theme for a few years in a row so that I am not searching for new bulletin board papers, borders, and décor items all summer long. I do change things up even with the same theme – my back to school room never looks the exact same two years in a row. I add and take away regularly!
Last year, I decided to go with a theme from SchoolGirl Style. Melanie is a decorating genius! I bought her Modern Apple décor set last year through Teachers Pay Teachers. After printing and laminating everything, adding some black and red wrapping paper to the walls, and some burlap and stainless steel bins, I have put together a back to school classroom that is super cute, bright, and eye catching – without being distracting.
Without further ado, here is my Back to School Room Reveal for 2016-2017!
As you can see, I leave a lot of “empty” space around my classroom – specifically for all the awesome work and projects that I know my students are going to be producing throughout the year. We are already into our third week, and I can tell you that there are some new additions to the walls already – both inside and outside of the classroom!
Have you blogged about your own classroom reveal for this year? I would love to see your back to school reveal! Please feel free to link up below!
Have a great day everyone!

We moved into this brand new building 5 years ago. Along with the great big windows, I have 2 skylights that let in a lot of natural light – it is rare that I use the lights in my classroom and I like it that way!
